Oya History Museum(Visit the huge underground chambers of a former quarry)

The Oya Museum is a huge underground space created by the quarrying of Oya stone over a period of 70 years from 1919 to 1986. It covers an area of 20,000 square meters, which is larger than a baseball field. The average temperature in the quarry throughout the year is around 8 degrees Celsius (46°F), making it like a large underground refrigerator. During the war it was used as an underground munitions factory. After the war, it was used by the government as a storage facility for rice. Now, it is used for concerts, art exhibitions, and weddings.–––
