The Onoguchi family has been a prominent family for generations, since the Edo period. Because the family’s residence is close to Oya stone quarries, many of the buildings are made of Oya stone. Stone buildings of various ages can be seen at this one site. There are buildings from the late Edo period, early Meiji period, late Meiji period, and even a stone wall from the Taisho period (one part was built in 2006). The residence is registered as a national tangible cultural property.

There are six buildings made of Oya stone, including the “front storehouse”,
“back storehouse”, “old sake brewery”, “gatehouse”, “composting house”, and
“old tobacco drying shed”. The property can only be viewed from the outside.
