It covers an area of 20,000 square meters, which is larger than a baseball field. The average temperature in the quarry throughout the year is around 8 degrees Celsius (46\u00b0F), making it like a large underground refrigerator. During the war it was used as an underground munitions factory. After the war, it was used by the government as a storage facility for rice.
